We will have a test over the executive and judicial branches of Georgia’s government on Tuesday, February 9th. You should study the following to be well-prepared:
- Executive and judicial branch questions
- Executive and judicial branch quizzes
- Georgia’s government chart (exec. and judicial sections)
- Judicial vocabulary
All of you will do well on this test if you put in the study time. Don’t wait until Monday night!

Today we took a quiz over our judicial branch vocabulary, and we analyzed the court cases we researched. We will complete juvenile justice on Friday and have a test over the executive and judicial branches on Tuesday, February 9th.
Homework: If you did not finish analyzing your court case, complete it for homework (See guidelines below). Review the executive and judicial branches of your government graphic organizer.
Type of case – criminal or civil (if criminal, is it a felony or misdemeanor).
Type of court the case will be held in or is in right now (trial or appellate).
Name the prosecutor and defendant (for criminal cases) or the plaintiff and defendant (for civil cases)

We defined some of the key judicial terms in class today. You will have a quiz on Wednesday over the aspects of the judicial branch that we covered in class today. Study your terms and definitions! We are planning to have a test over government next Tuesday.
Homework: Study for Wednesday’s quiz. Don’t forget to bring your court case on Wednesday!

After taking our executive branch quiz, we went to the media center to view the Bunce Island exhibit. Many of you showed your great museum skills during our time in the exhibit!
Homework: Bring in a court case (civil or criminal) to class on Monday. It can be printed out, or you may write a summary of the case. Remember to include the source for your information.

After reviewing our homework questions, we finished discussing the executive branch of Georgia. If you know the elected positions of the following people, you will earn 10 bonus points on Thursday’s quiz: Karen Handel, Casey Cagle, Thurbert E. Today we discussed some of the bills that were introduced in the General Assembly this session. Will they ban texting while driving? We also reviewed the material that will be on the legislative branch test on Friday. You should review your chart, how a bill becomes law, and the notes on the back of your chart. I love Schoolhouse Rock, don’t you? We finished learning how a bill becomes a law, and we took a quiz over the material. Many of your graphic organizers looked great! I will collect your individual organizers on Friday. We will finish the legislative branch and move on to the executive branch next class period.
