Today we compiled information about countries that are known for illegal child labor.  We wrote a summary paragraph about each country for our child labor websites.  If you were absent today, please complete this and e-mail it to me.  If you have any questions, please leave a comment on the blog so that all can benefit from your question.

Yesterday and today we read articles in current issues of U.S. News & World Report and TIme.  We wrote a summary paragraph, an implications paragraph, and an opinion paragraph on the article.

Any make up work or late work must be turned in on Monday.  Some of you received interim reports on your grades this afternoon.  If you received one of those, please return it to me with a parent/guardian signature on Monday.

Today we took the quiz over the vocabulary words in Unit 7. I also collected your burrito books. If for some crazy reason you did not turn one in, make sure you do that soon!

Today we worked on the summary for the first webpage of your website.  You should have two good paragraphs on child labor laws and regulations in Georgia and the United States.

The quiz over Unit 7 vocabulary is tomorrow (A-day) and Wednesday (B-day).  Remember to study for your burrito books and bring them to class tomorrow. If you have not yet turned in your reflection journal, you must do so immediately!

Your burrito vocabulary books are due on Monday!  The time you spend on your book will directly benefit you when you take the Unit 7 quiz on Tuesday or Wednesday.

If you weren’t able to complete much research today in the Mac Lab, I would recommend doing some research this weekend.

Today we finished our notes on Child Labor, and we learned about bonded child labor.  The students turned in their reflection journals, and they will be graded on the notes taken over poverty and child labor.  If you were unable to turn in your journal today, be sure to turn it in tomorrow (A-day classes) or Wednesday (B day classes).

Tomorrow we will be going to the computer lab to research current child labor laws.  You will also have time to work on your vocabulary burrito books.  These personal vocabulary books will be due next Monday.  They will prove very helpful in studying for the Unit 7 vocabulary quiz scheduled for next Tuesday the 10th (A-day classes) and Wednesday the 11th (B-day classes).  I’m sure you will do very well on your books and the quiz because we have spent ample time on them in class.

Reading

You should read pages 7-14 of the Action Magazine I gave to you in class today.  You need to answer the comprehension questions on pages 15 and 16.  I will collect these in class on Wednesday.
