We continued to research and work on our outlines in the Mac Lab today.  Your outlines are due on Tuesday (A) and Wednesday (B).  Don’t forget to have your thesis statement on your outline!

We learned how to create an outline for our research papers.  We also reviewed how to take notes on the information we find in books, articles, and other sources.  We will be writing our papers in class next week, so complete as much research as you can at home.  This will allow you to fully utilize class time.

We learned how to use Cobb Virtual Library today, and some of the classes had the opportunity to begin researching.  Your thesis statement is due at the beginning of class on Thursday (A) and Friday (B). If you are going to be absent over the next two weeks, make sure you are working on your research at home!

Tell Mr. Kay:  Why don’t we use Wikipedia?

Your narrowed topic is due next class period!  It should be written on a separate sheet of paper; this will be collected for an all-or-none grade at the beginning of class.  If you are unsure about your broad topic, you should research it online to learn enough about it to make it a narrow topic.

After a brief review game, we took our unit 10 vocabulary quiz.  I met individually with many of you and discussed the topics of your research papers.  Be sure to do some preliminary research on your topic this weekend.  Bring your completed "Gas Prices" sheet and your topic sheet with the KW completed to class on Monday.

Today we checked our flashcards and picked the best ones from the class.  We also worked on choosing  topics for the research unit.  Here is the list of possible topics: Download possible_topics.ppt  Remember that your topic and alternate topic are due on Thursday (A) and Friday (B).

Today we finished working on our Unit 10 vocabulary flashcards.  The cards are due on Tuesday (A) and Wednesday (B).  The Unit 10 quiz is scheduled for Thursday (A) and Friday (B).

Tell Mr. Kay:  Who are the two government leaders that visited Iraq on Monday?

We worked on creating picture flashcards of the Unit 10 vocabulary words today.  We will work on these during Monday’s class as well.  The Unit 10 vocabulary quiz is scheduled for Thursday (A) and Friday (B), March 20th and 21st.

Today we looked at websites that help us understand how we can evaluate the authenticity of sources.  We also discussed the video on the Three R’s that we watched on Monday.
