7th Grade Social StudiesRain_forests

We finished the last few skits from last week about deforestation, and I returned your physiographic maps and environmental answer sheets. Be sure to review these things for your test on Wednesday.  Also, review your political map and pages 43-44 in your notebook.  Tomorrow, we will be reviewing for the test.

Tell Mr. Kay:  What extensive rain forest covers a large part of central Africa and is almost completely surrounded by mountains?

8th Grade Reading

After independent reading, we turned in our Venn diagrams on fairytale viewpoints.  We also read the true story of the 3 little pigs as told by Alexander T. Wolf.  He had an interesting perspective on the events of the story.  We were able to get a good start on the stories we are writing using different perspectives.

Homework:  Complete the rough draft of your story.  We will be editing and composing our final draft on Wednesday.

Have a great night!

Don’t forget to be reviewing your notes for the test next Wednesday.

Homework:  Complete the map of Africa that you received in class today.

After submitting our physiographic maps, we began our new project on the environmental issues in Africa.  We are reading information sheets, answering comprehension questions, and then producing a skit, song, acrostic, or ad campaign focusing on the environmental issue.  I’m looking forward to seeing your ingenuity and creativity!

Tell Mr. Kay:  Click on the picture on the right.  Tell me two countries that have lost a high percentage of forest cover.

We finished working on our physiographic maps today in class. If you did not complete your map in class, you must finish it for homework.  Remember to strive for excellence in creating and identifying your landforms!  We will begin looking at the environmental challenges facing Africa tomorrow.

8th Grade Reading

After independent reading, we worked on understanding viewpoint and how it affects the way we interpret things we read and hear about.  We began researching a fairytale that will allow us to better understand how viewpoint impacts traditional stories.  You do not have any homework tonight.
