After finishing Reconstruction, we reviewed for our test. We will have another short review before
our test on Tuesday. To prepare for your test, review the following:
~ Civil War Causes notesheet. There will be an essay question on the causes of the Civil War.
~ Civil War graphic organizer with terms on the back. The test will include a matching section on these terms.
~ Civil War battles and events notesheet.
~ Civil War practice questions. This is most important thing to study!
Homework: Study for your test on Tuesday!

Some of you received grade reports today showing your current grade and any missing assignments. Remember to get the report signed and bring it to me tomorrow in homeroom. The last day to turn in any work is Friday.
We completed our Civil War stations today. Your stations notesheet and the practice questions will be combined and used as a project grade.

Today we got a taste of what life was like for the Civil War soldier. After trying to keep our teeth intact while chewing on hardtack, we continued learning about the important battles and events of the war. We will finish our stations on Monday and begin Reconstruction on Wednesday.

We had to be flexible and focused today, since we only had about 20 mins of class time! We completed the Civil War chart and discussed our homework. Remember that we only have 3 more class periods before the end of the quarter!
Homework: Create an expanded list of causes of the Civil War including all of the causes that are in your notes. List the cause and explain it in your own words. This will count as a quiz grade!
For a bonus on Thursday’s warm-up quiz, tell me who is pictured above. We talked about him on Tuesday. Just write “Bonus” and the answer on the bottom of your quiz, and for goodness sake, don’t tell anybody!

We completed the causes of the Civil War today. Remember to review the vocabulary words we covered in class:
secession: separation from an alliance; a state separating from the union.
abolitionist: a dedicated opponent to slavery
fugitive: a person fleeing justice
compromise: the settlement of differences; an agreement
states’ rights: the belief that states should have more power than the federal government
platform: the beliefs of a group – usually a political group
tariff: a tax on imported goods
nullification: a state declaring a federal law unconstitutional
