Today we continued investigating the causes of the Civil War. We will finish our notes on Wednesday. Use your notes and Chapter 7 Section 2 in your textbook to complete your homework.
Homework: In a well-written paragraph, thoroughly explain how slavery and states’ rights were two of the causes of the Civil War. Don’t forget to include a graphic or picture!

Today we took a short quiz over the juvenile justice system and then worked in groups to complete an activity on local governments. Next week: Antebellum Georgia! What in the world does “antebellum” mean? You better know by Tuesday!

- Georgia’s government chart (exec. and judicial sections)
- Judicial vocabulary
All of you will do well on this test if you put in the study time. Don’t wait until Monday night!

Today we took a quiz over our judicial branch vocabulary, and we analyzed the court cases we researched. We will complete juvenile justice on Friday and have a test over the executive and judicial branches on Tuesday, February 9th.

We defined some of the key judicial terms in class today. You will have a quiz on Wednesday over the aspects of the judicial branch that we covered in class today. Study your terms and definitions! We are planning to have a test over government next Tuesday.

After taking our executive branch quiz, we went to the media center to view the Bunce Island exhibit. Many of you showed your great museum skills during our time in the exhibit!
Homework: Bring in a court case (civil or criminal) to class on Monday. It can be printed out, or you may write a summary of the case. Remember to include the source for your information.
