Classwork:
- Today we reviewed the concepts we’ve learned during the past two weeks: scale drawings, scale factors, similar figures, congruent figures, and corresponding parts of figures
- We completed one example from each side of the two worksheets together so you know how to set up your proportions, and you had the remaining time (35-45 minutes) to work on your two worksheets and your project
Homework: Finish all materials started in class today…….
- Worksheet 11-5/11-6: Congruent Triangles and Similar Triangles
- Worksheet Reteaching 103: Scale Drawings & Similar Figures/Practice 69: Scale Drawings & Similar Triangles
- Dream House Scale Drawing Project due tomorrow…..this is a project grade, so it will count as a test grade

Classwork:
- Homework check and questions
- You worked on your projects for the remainder of the class time. You should have chosen a large piece of construction to mount your project. If you didn’t get one, you may stop by my room during homeroom either Thursday or Friday to glue your projects
Homework: Dream House Project due Friday at the beginning of class

Classwork:
- You took notes over similar and congruent figures today……be sure you remember to check the angles to make sure they are exactly the same measure and be sure to check the sides to see if they form a proportion before you say two figures are similar
- We read section 5-7 out of the textbook, and we went through a few examples from the section together…..remember, there is a Power Point on one of last week’s blogs if you want to refer to it to help you with tonight’s homework
- We went through a few examples from your homework sheet together, and the study guide side has two examples for you to refer to if you need them
Homework:
- Worksheet 8-7
- Scale drawing of your dream home due Friday, Feb. 1……we’re going to be working on this tomorrow in class, so be sure you bring your sheets and drawings with you

Classwork:
We worked on making your scale drawing of your dream house today…..you received the requirements sheet, the sheet for calculating area and cost, and the rubric was on the front board. I am going to post all of the sheet at the bottom in case you misplace anything. This is going to be a project grade (counts as much as a test), so please be sure you are not saving all of the work until Thursday night or Friday during homeroom. We will be working on this again Wednesday in class, but Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday we are going to continue with other unit 5 material. You may ask questions about the project any morning during homeroom or class, but remember, it is due Friday at the beginning of class.
Homework: "Dream House" Project due Friday, Feb. 1 at the beginning of class…..see below for requirements, rubric, etc.

Due to the behavior reward party this afternoon, only period 3/4 and period 5 had math today. Period 6 and 7/8 be sure your worksheet on scale factors is complete for Monday
Classwork:
- Homework check
- We discussed the project you are going to be working on during the next week. You are going to design your dream home. You will be receiving the handouts with the specifics on Monday, and we will continue to work on the project on Monday. Tenatively the project is set to be due on Friday, Feb. 1 (next Friday). We will not work on it every day next week, so you will need to do some work outside of class. You will be receiving a rubric on Monday so you know exactly how you will be assessed.
Homework: Period 3/4 & 5 – NONE Period 6 & 7/8 – Scale Models Wkst. from Thursday

I’m going to post numerous Power Points on this posting, but they are labeled so you can use the one you need. If you struggled with ratios, you can start with that Power Point, but some of you may want to look at the Power Points as we get to them…..refer back here as often as needed throughout the unit
) The numbers before the titles are the chapter and section the topics can be found in the textbook if you’re interested (for example 51_ratios Power Point is from chapter 5 – section 1 of our textbook).

Classwork:
- Today in class we went over your proportions worksheet and answered any questions
- You read textbook pages 308 to refresh yourself about scale drawings and scale factors (you did a scale drawing in social studies this year, and you worked on scale drawings last year in 6th grade)
- We went through the four problems on page 186 from your workbook to see how to set up proportions to solve scale drawing problems
- We then went through a couple of your homework problems to make sure you knew how to set up the proportions and how to solve for the missing length.
Homework:
- Worksheet 8-9 (Scale Drawings & Models)…..both sides
- If you have graph paper, bring a few sheets with you to class next class period so we can get started on a project, yes that was PROJECT. Projects are counted with tests, so it is a major grade, and graph paper will help you with this project. If you don’t have graph paper, you can find graph paper on-line and print off just a few sheets for yourself instead of buying a whole pack

Classwork:
- You completed warm-up #10, and then you took the warm-up quiz
- We checked last night’s ratios worksheet and answered any questions you had, but I think most of you understood the material which was a quick review from sixth grade
- We reviewed what a proportion was and how to solve them (remember….cross-multiply and divide), and we did a few of the homework problems together so you knew how to work the problems
Homework: Proportions worksheet…..on the reteaching 102 side do all of the problems and on the practice 102 side do only the evens

Classwork:
- You received your unit 4 – part 2 test back today, and we went over any questions you had from the test
- You received your writing sample back and we discussed how you were graded…..if you received a check plus, that was a 100%…..a check was an 85%, and a check minus was 70%. I didn’t focus too much on grammar, but I did focus on the mathematical concepts.
- We reviewed what a ratio was, and you had quite a bit of time to start on your homework
Homework: Ratio Worksheet (Ratios & Equal Ratios the whole side and Using Rate do evens only)
