Mrs. V.
Classwork:
- Homework check
- We quickly reviewed how to change subtraction problems to addition because more of you are comfortable with addition instead of subtraction
- You had 40-45 minutes to work on the assignment today, and many of you had the assignment checked so you knew which problems you needed to re-work
- While you were working I called each row up to the computer so you could see where you currently stand in math class. I told many of you to make sure you do well on tomorrow’s quiz because you are border line right now…..you’re close to the next letter grade or you’re at the bottom of a letter grade so you need to maintain the grade you have….don’t brush off this quiz just because it is the last week of school! This quiz is the determining factor in your final grade for many of you, so please make sure you know how to add and subtract integers!
Homework:
- Adding and Subtracting Integers Wkst. – Both sides
- Adding & Subtracting Integers Quiz tomorrow!

Classwork:
- We went through last night’s homework
- We practiced subtracting with negative decimals and fractions
- You worked on your 20 homework problems
Homework:

Mrs. V.
Classwork:
- We reviewed the homework from last night
- We filled in the Integer Addition and Subtraction graphic organizer….we had to fill in the one box for subtraction, and then you follow the steps for addition
) I think most of you found the subtraction rule to be pretty easy, just be sure to take your time and don’t rush!
- We completed one side of the homework together in class, and then you had at least 15 minutes to work on the other side of the sheet….many of you finished in class and I checked some of your papers so you could correct any mistakes.
Homework:
- Subtracting Integers Wkst.
- Adding and Subtracting Integers Quiz next week….probably Tuesday

Mrs. V.
Classwork:
- We reviewed addition with negative numbers today, and we included fractions and decimals
- We then started subtraction of negative numbers, but just like with addition, we’re starting with baby steps…..I know some of you just want to know the rules so you can follow the steps and solve; however, I want you to see the process and why the rule works, so that is why we were using the colored counters today and the positive and negative signs. We will learn the rules for subtraction tomorrow.
Homework: Integer Subtraction with Counters Wkst. – both sides (we did almost 10 of the problems together in class, so you should have almost half done already if not more)….if #14 & #15 give you trouble on the back side, don’t stress about them!

Mrs. V.
Classwork:
- We went throug last night’s homework and answered any questions you may have had
- We quickly ran through a few examples on the board, and you discovered the rules for adding integers….if the signs are the same (both positive or both negative), then you add the numbers and keep the signs of the addends…..if the signs are different (one positive and one negative), then ignore the signs and subtract the smaller number from the greater number and give the answer the sign of the greater number (when ignoring the signs).
- You filled in your graphic organizer
- You had the remainder of class to work on your homework assignment – 10 problems from the front board…..most of you finished in class!
Homework: 10 adding integers problems from the front board….tomorrow we’re moving on to subtraction, so be sure to have your two-colored counters with you in class!

Classwork:
- You received your final exam grade, and we went through the test and any questions you had about the test. If you didn’t get to use your Renaissance card today (and wanted to), you should give it to me by next Friday, May 15. I will not accept Renaissance cards for any rewards after Friday, May 15.
- You drew a number line on a piece of paper and we numbered some positive and negative numbers…many of you were already comfortable with this, so it didn’t take us long. We discussed how the further right you go on a number line, the greater the number and the further left you go on a number line, the lesser the number.
- We discussed the similarities/differences between natural numbers, whole numbers, and integers.
- Natural numbers are the counting numbers: 1, 2, 3…
- Whole numbers are all the natural numbers AND zero: 0, 1, 2, 3…
- Integers are all the whole number AND their opposites: …-2, -1, 0, 1, 2… (the dots before and after the numbers means the number go to both positive infinity and negative infinity
)
- Then we started adding integers…positive and negative numbers together! We used the two colored counters you made in class yesterday to show the process. Remember to take away the zero pairs (one positive and one negative)….whatever is left after all zero pairs are removed is the sum (the answer to an addition problem)
Homework: Adding Integers with Counters Wkst. – Do NOT do the back side, but do NOT mark it out….we’ll be doing that side next week!

Classwork: You finished the final math 6 test in class
Homework: If you want to take the Unit 8 re-test next Wednesday morning at 8:00 A.M., please make sure you have the 15-question Unit 8 review done and turned in by this Friday. If you don’t turn in the 15 problems, then you won’t earn a pass to take the re-test…you have to prove you deserve the re-test. See Monday’s blog (May 4) for all of the re-test information.

Classwork:
- You received your Direct Variation test back today, and we went through the problems you had questions about and discussed the re-test opportunity. If you are unhappy with the score you earned, you can do a re-test Wednesday, May 13. You must earn a pass for the re-test by completing the 15-question direct variation review power point posted on Thurs., April 30’s blog. The correct answers are on the last 2 slides, so you should be able to quickly tell if you are completing the problems correctly. If you get an incorrect answer, you are expected to re-work the problem so you get the correct answer. The 15 problems with the correct work are due to me by this Friday, May 8 in order to get a pass to the re-test. This proves to me you are trying to learn the material and practice before you take the re-test. Also, keep in mind you keep the new score, so if you are happy with the score, please do NOT attempt the re-test just in case you end up doing worse.
- We worked on reviewing for the final test in Math 6. This is the last grade you will get in the test/project category, so try your very best. If you want to review a little tonight, I have attached the power point from the game from class today.
- final-exam-review
- The final test is 50 questions, but you know the material so don’t stress….we spent weeks reviewing for the CRCT so you’ve studied and prepared; now it’s time to show me how much you’ve truly learned this year
) I can’t wait to see how well you do!
Homework:
- Study for the final Math 6 test
- If you want to do the Unit 8 re-test next Wednesday, work on the 15-question direct variation review power point….all answers with the work shown must be turned in by Friday, May 8 in order to receive a pass for the re-test. In case you need the direct variation review power point… unit-8-review
