I was not in school today, but here is what you should’ve done :o )

Classwork:

  • You checked last night’s homework from thin workbook page 4
  • You received an Order of Operations crossword and worksheet you were to complete
  • You also should’ve received a half sheet for order of operations….this sheet was a little more difficult; some problems had fractions and decimals combined, and a multi-step word problem. You were to try and do your best and get as far as you could be the end of class

Homework:

  1. Skills Drills when you return will be the common fraction, decimal, and percent equivalents. You made an index card with these on, and you should be reviewing them for the skills drills when we return.
  2. Eat plenty, have fun, and get plenty of rest…..we’ll get unit 4 completed before winter break!

Percent Quiz & Review Sheet

Classwork:

  • We checked Friday’s homework
  • You took the Percent Quiz
  • When you turned in your quiz, you also picked a reivew sheet which addresses ratios, proportions, and converting fractions, decimals, and percents. The sheet does not address tax, tip, discount, or percent of a number. These concepts were on today’s quiz, so they should be pretty fresh in your mind.
  • You had the remainder of class to work on your homework

Tax, Tip, & Discount

Classwork:

  • You took the last timed division drill after the homework check today
  • You worked either with a partner or in a group of three to complete the “Order’s Up” task. You had to choose an appetizer, entree, drink, and dessert from one of the menus your group received. You then had to calculate your total with 7% tax. After all of your group members were finished, you then added everyone’s totals to get your group total. From there your group was given a discount percent and tip percent. Your group was to work together to calculate the total after discount, then after tip.
  • If any time remained for your group you could work on your homework

Homework:

  1. “Practice Test” worksheet….this is not everything that will be on the test, but it will give you some ideas of what the problems might look like next Wednesday
  2. Percents Quiz – Monday
  3. Unit 3B (ratios, proportions, fractions, decimals, and percents) test – Wednesday
