<p>Today, we had a &#8220;real world&#8221; learning experience!  Students experienced what life was like as a Hindu in India before the caste system was made illegal.  They drew colored sticks which determined their caste.  Ask your child if they were a Brahman or an Untouchable and to explain how life was different for the various caste.  Even though the caste system is no longer legal, we discussed how it can take a long time to change people way of thinking.</p>
<p><span style="color: #ff0000;">Update:  SE Asia Map Test has been moved to Tuesday:) &#8211; Wouldn&#8217;t hurt to start studying over the weekend &#8211; Sheppard&#8217;s Software is available on my Blog, give it a try.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #00ff00;">Report Cards were given out on Thursday, please remember to have your parents sign and return.  I will check it off and give it right back for you to take home.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #ff0000;">Report cards were passed given out at the end of school today.  Some students also received foreign language letters.  Parents, if you would like your child to take foreign language next year, please sign and return that letter ASAP!  Foreign language classes are a  first come-first serve basis- we literally write the date and time on the letter when it is returned by the student.</span></p>

<p>Today, students wrote 10 facts as they watched a video on S. Asia.  We payed close attention to the affect the Himalayas have on the subcontinent of India and we learned about monsoons (seasonal winds).  Next, students received a map of Asia.  Many of the features they were familiar with but there were a few new features such as the Gobi Desert and Yellow River just to name a couple.  Students started on this in class and were to finish it for homework &#8211; <span style="color: #ff0000;">remember label and color!</span></p>
